01 RESEARCH

Design begins with knowing our client, their customer, and the end user.

Understanding the user's frustrations, preferences, and lifestyles allows us to design solutions that create value.

This knowledge sets the stage for creating something that will improve their life.

They will want it, love it, and love your brand for delivering it.

02 IDEA SORTING

Sorting our primary research into actionable design directions allows us to start developing new ideas. This helps us decide which concepts to expand upon, and which to leave behind.

Giving these directions names makes their attributes and purpose clear for us, and for our client. Through this quick activity, we build a reference system to use for the entire project.

03 IDEATION

Quickly visualizing ideas allows the great ones to surface early. Instead of talking about an idea's purpose, aesthetic, attributes, we show it with robust visuals.

Ideating on a theme is especially powerful for creating a related family of concepts. We can then develop the best of these ideas into more detailed imagery.

04 REFINEMENT

Knowing which ideas to keep and which to leave behind is critical. Decision-making at this level is based on referencing our research once more.

Have we satisfied our requirements? This is when we verify that we're creating value in a space where none seemed possible. We ensure our solution is the right one to implement.

05 MOCKUPS + PROTOTYPES

Building and testing is done throughout the process. Quick mockups in print, paper, foam, wood, fabrics, and other easy-to-work materials are indispensable in proving a design direction is the right one.

The later steps of prototyping involve processes like animating and pre-press, machining, casting, 3D-printing, and simulations of manufacturing processes. All done in-house with constant evaluation for success.
